What Dr. Hoffman speaks about
Each topic is grounded in her clinical work and research, and framed around the questions your audience is already asking: Why is this happening? How worried should I be? What happens next?
Getting ready for pregnancy
What to do in the months before trying to conceive, which questions matter most, and how preparation shapes a healthier pregnancy for mother and baby.
What the label really means
A maternal-fetal medicine specialist on what makes a pregnancy "high-risk," how worried families should be, and what happens next. She oversees training and the fellowship program for maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Colorado.
Mind and body, together
Depression and anxiety in pregnancy and after birth, why maternal mental health is a major contributor to maternal mortality, and the obstetrician's role in care. She co-authored ACOG's first clinical practice guidelines on perinatal mental health and served on its expert working group.
Choline and the baby's brain
Her randomized trial of choline supplementation in pregnancy, an NIH-funded trial on protecting early brain development, and why this nutrient matters. Named a Brain & Behavior Research Foundation 2020 Leading Research Achievement.
New research in postpartum depression
Dr. Hoffman is principal investigator for the CU Anschutz study site of a national clinical trial of RE104, an investigational psilocybin-like compound for postpartum depression, which she presented at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine annual meeting (2025). She can speak to the science and where the research stands.
This is research only. RE104 is investigational, is not an approved treatment, and is not offered through Dr. Hoffman or this website.
